The Bison Bede Compact was one of the first stairlifts to use a compehensive set of diagnostic fault codes. Instead of just informing the user or engineer of an activated safety edge or stop circuit, this stairlift could also diagnose earth faults and pcb errors.
The Bison Bede Compact stairlift was fed power via an umbilical cable on both the A/C and D/C model. When the Bison Bede 50 stairlift was released there were no umbilical cables but instead it used charging points which were located at the top and bottom of the rail.
Both the Bison Bede Compact & Bison Bede 50 fault codes were the same. The table below shows all of these codes along with the possible cause and action to rectify them:
Bison Bede Compact / Bison Bede 50 Fault Codes
A/C & D/C VersionsDisplay Code | Description | Solution |
---|---|---|
No Display | Lift power not present | Check power switch is on. Check lift arm switch is on |
E | Installation error (flashing) | Check OSG has deployed correctly. Check directional switches on chassis frame, wires touching or PCB wiring |
= | Seat / footrest fault | Northern Ireland spec only |
≡ | Over current fault | Check for obstructions in direction of travel. Check battery power |
II | Sensitive edge contact | Check for obstructions in direction of travel. Check PCB wiring. Check battery power |
O | Overspeed safety switch | Check OSG for deployment. Check PCB wiring. Check battery power |
P | Main PCB fault | Power off and back on again. Change main PCB (or check wiring on DC version) |
F | Final limit switch | Check limit switches for over run. Check wiring to main PCB |
ϟ | Swivel seat fault | Check position of seat. Check seat switch wiring |
t | Terminal limit | Indicates end stop reached. Will run in other direction |
5 | Stand by | Indicates power is on and ready to go |
⨿ | Up direction travel | Blown fuse on main PCB if not moving |
d | Down direction travel | Blown fuse on main PCB if not moving |
L | Left installation lift | |
r | Right installation lift | |
C | Call conflict | Check joystick not stuck UP / DOWN. Check remote buttons aren't stuck |
ⅼ | Watchdog fault | May occur after programming - power off and back on again. Replace PCB - chip fault causing fail safe |
H | Hinge fault | Close folding hinge. Check switch |
_ | Earth fault (flashing on power up) | Check footrest PCB contacts and ALL wiring. Check PCB wiring or systematically pull out plugs to find fault |
b | Low battery | Check battery voltage. Check umbilical to battery box |
