They reported a worrying crunching and grating noise coming from his stairlift. Recognising the urgency, We arranged a visit to inspect the issue.
Upon inspection, it became clear that one of the side rollers, crucial for smooth operation, had worn through so excessively that it had not only collapsed but split completely in half. This side roller is one of twelve that helps to guide the stairlift safely and efficiently up and down the stairs.
Fortunately, for the customer we had a spare replacement roller on the attending van for this discontinued stairlift model. We were able to carry out a successful repair on the spot, much to the customer’s relief. This quick fix saved them the considerable cost of a new stairlift, which would have been necessary due to the unavailability of parts for his old model.
This incident highlights the critical importance of regular maintenance. Had this stairlift been serviced annually, as it used to be, We would have identified the wear and tear on the roller before it reached such a critical point. Regular servicing allows us to catch potential issues early, ensuring that your mobility aids remain in top working condition and preventing unexpected breakdowns.
