Today I went to a Brooks straight stairlift in a lovely old Victorian house to carry out a Leamington Spa stairlift repair. The lady had recently had a new wooden floor fitted and needed the stairlift rail raising off the floor to allow for the different thickness. Once i started to undo the stair brackets i found that a lot had been snapped off when it was originally fitted and just left in place. I replaced all the broken screws and reset the rail correctly. She then asked me to carry out a full stairlift service whilst i was there as it hadn’t been done for years. I was amazed to find that the batteries were twelve years old and still going! Also, two of the seat stem bolts were loose and the footrest wasn’t level. I quickly sorted out these issues and set off to the next job.
