Stairlift service and stairlift maintenance is an important part of owning a Stairlift. Just like anything mechanical, the oily parts all need checking and lubricating on a regular basis. This is the same for both Straight Stairlifts and Curved Stairlifts, whether they are new, reconditioned or rental.
When should a Stairlift have a service?
All Stairlift manufacturers recommend that Stairlifts servicing should be carried out at least once a year. This is based on a single user using the Stairlift 4 times per day. If the Stairlift has multiple users or above average usage then this should be increased to 2 service visits per year.
What does a Stairlift service involve?
A stairlift is fitted with a full range of safety circuits for your safety. When your Stairlift is serviced, all of the stairlift safety stop circuits are checked to make sure they are operating correctly. This also includes the seat swivel, seat belt and operating controls and arms. Stairlift maintenance is carried out on all the internal mechanical parts such as the rollers, over speed governor safety gear, footrest bolts and seat post fixings. The electrical switches and circuits are tested and the diagnostics checked for accuracy. Finally, the Stairlift is cleaned so it is dust free and ready to use again.
How will i know when my Stairlift needs Servicing again?
Once the Stairlift has been fully serviced and checked over, we ask the owner to try it. When the customer is happy, we place a service sticker on the Stairlift. This has the current Stairlift service date and the next service date information on it for easy reference.
What if the Stairlift also needs a Stairlift repair?
If the Stairlift has a fault or an issue then this will need to be resolved first with a stairlift repair. At Central Mobility we provide a full range of stairlift services which include stairlift repairs, stairlift servicing and stairlift maintenance. A Stairlift repair can be carried out during the service visit by one of our Stairlift engineers. If the Stairlift requires parts to be ordered then a return visit will be necessary. It is strongly recommended that any problems or faults are reported or mentioned when booking our Stairlift services. This can prevent a second visit being required in many cases which in turn saves the owner money.
